RE: The Flaming Marshmallow Vortec evolution thread
It doesn't look like much progress, but it took hours to remove a bazilllion zip ties and years of added-on BS. I'm so happy to be making a fresh start with the wiring.

I'm also deleting the AC system that I just refurbished a year ago. That part bothers me, but it is all for the better.

The inner fenders and radiator support were badly cracked, rusted, and failing. If I had made it to the AZ Run this year, the front would have fallen off.
Using the Chevy rad and condenser will require a major rework of the rad support, so I will make it all new and bolt-in. It will also be an opportunity to replace a front crossmember that was smashed when I got the truck.
The whole bumper assembly and front receiver will be reused, but the mounts will have to be modified to fit the reworked front end.

When all is said and done, the engine and trans should come out/go in as one unit, through the front. That is if I can find a balance point.

If the front had fallen off, at least you would have known how to fix it.

Sounds like you're making good progress.

I just got some 3" body lift blocks in the mail. That will make several things easier. Wendy's not happy about it, though.

It is finally starting to look like nothing. I mean "something". What I mean is; it is finally looking like it is fairly stripped.

I went ahead and stripped the valuable parts off of the engine so I can store them until I get a chance to list them on eBay. Then I turned my attention to gutting the interior. I got pretty far.

I have some holes in the floor on both sides, and the passenger side is collapsed around the cab mount area. It will require some reconstruction.

Finally down to bare firewall. The wire harness is completely removed whit the exception of a few pigtails at things that stay.

Another significant item removed was the clutch lever assembly. I hesitate for a few moments, then moved on, and did what had to be done.

Got the cab loose and lifted onto 3" lift blocks. Next, I will repair the floors and rebuild the front corners where the cab mounts seat. Those areas are in bad shape.

Doug was a big help, so he got to pose with the FM as well. Smile

The body lift and the work that I need to do to the frame horns and radiator support, demanded that I remove the front bumper and guard. It will go back on the truck, though.

Do you plan on moving the sliders up or leaving them where they are?

I plan to leave them. I'll probably leave the rear bumper, too, if it doesn't look stupid.
I plan to move the spare tire hoist up.

The body lift will make it far easier to fit the drive line and the 26 gallon fuel tank. It will also make it easier to mount the air box on top of the intake, up in the hood scoop. That, in turn, will give me room for the dual batteries.
