RE: 81 CJ5 Repair
After I gassed the Jeep up and Rolled it out of the drive way I tried to engage the starter and I got a rrrrrnnn! Dang! 30 minutes later of nothing I decided to throw it in reverse and pop the clutch going down our steepish driveway and it started but died then did it again and ended in the street. So pulled it up the hill and took off the starter and it is pretty clean inside. I'm just gonna clean it and go from there.

Got the starter working after trial and error and alot of angry slurrs. Heck I don't even know what I did to make it start working again. Still gonna get another starter when I get the money. I noticed the oil pan is leaking from the drain bolt so that brightened my day. On the flip side the p/s pump leak is gone after I cut about an 1 inch off the hose. The E brakes a pieces of shizznit. Anyone know where I can find some AMC 20 brake drums? The 10 inch ones.

RE: 81 CJ5 Repair
So I got to thinking about trying to make a bracket for the York instead of buying one. I found a nice steel plate I was going to put on winch on for my fourwheeler but I thought this was a better use of it. The holes are already drilled out so I guess it was meant to be with the York. I went digging in my misc mower junk and found a piece that connects the deck to the frame in the shape of a triangle and I started hammering out the sides and the pegs sticking out. This picture game me an idea so If this don't work I'll go get some brackets.

Okay, took all day almost,, started at 8 AM and finished at about 3:40 pm. Better than spending money for a bracket IMO. Measure 3 times cut once for me on this. Plans changed from how I was going to mount it but it still all worked out. I used Mr. CJ6/442's homemade bracket as a model to base mine off of. Think it turned out great.

Got a video of the engine running. The gauge is at 30 pounds or so. Still got blow by but I don't care. Really want to put my 2 barrel motorcraft on it. If I can't do that then I want to get another 4 barrel. Still a clack going down the road. Going to pull the diff covers and see what I got. Also have an exhaust leak. Crappy camera and camera man makes a really bad video but Meh.

Looks a little pricey, but http://www.quadratec.com/products/56206+07+07.htm.
I would probably try NAPA or O'Rielly's. I would think they would have them.

Well I found the carburetor adapter I was looking for. Really want to swap both diffs or attempt to change the gears. Both will need a new carrier and master rebuild kit. Might try the resurfacing machine on the drums in automotive sometime this week. Anyone know where AMC vehicles are? Junkyard? If all else fails I'll get some new drums.

Rarely do I see CJs or Wranglers in a junkyard. Last time I was at Barry's U-Pull-It, there was a solitary YJ there with 3 different groups picking it clean like a flock of buzzards.
