Hemi cam and lifter repair
Big design difference between the cylinders. The Felpro seems closest to the original.

That kit was for the chrysler 300c, so I can understand there being a different intake, but I would expect the intake to head gaskets to fit. Are they the ones that are different?
I hope the exhaust gaskets fit.

The head gaskets worked, that was by far the most important.
The valve cover gaskets worked, the intake runner gaskets did not. I didn’t remove the exhaust manifolds from the heads so I didn’t even need those.

I got the cam and lifters in and the heads on.

It was really time consuming prepping surfaces and then crazy torque sequences. I was hoping to finish today but I should be able to wrap it up next weekend.

Today did not go well.

Snapped off an oil pan bolt.

It is in an area where I put RTV on the gasket. Hopefully it won’t leak.
If it does I’ll deal with it later.

Now on to the potentially catastrophic mistake!

We had the engine almost back together when I decided to flush the coolant passages with the water hose. I wasn’t thinking about it being a pressure test, but it turned out to be just that.

Welp, there was water leaking out under both heads!!
As you can imagine, I was thoroughly disgusted, so I walked away and went to eat lunch.

After lunch there was nothing to do but tear back into it to see what happened. I had my suspicions.
Sure enough, I had put the gaskets on the wrong side. (Driver on passenger and vice versa)

So today, got the hemi completely re assembled.

Aannnddd,

Runs very rough, when it runs at all.

Pretty sure I got the timing one tooth off.

I think you need to wait until the next moon cycle or something. You're on a roll ... downhill. Sad

The pan bolt will probably be fine with rtv there.

Head gaskets should not be able to be installed wrong. The dowels should be asymmetrical to prevent that. I blame the engineers.

Mis-timing a rebuild happens about 60% of the time with DIYers.

Maybe it will cheer you up to know that I had a GREAT day. I got my new to me Yamaha (non-running) FJR1300 running with no major glitches.
It should be 100% set up by the time I'm healed enough to ride. Smile

I saw your YouTube video.

I think I can get the front cover off without having to remove the intake.
Just the fans and harmonic balancer and belt would have to come off. The cover and water pump can stay as one piece.
