Viking propane tanks.
My Viking fiberglass propane tanks were really expensive… for propane tanks anyway.
Sometimes you do get what you pay for.

Mine were manufactured in June of 2014, and were overdue for recertification.

Blossman declined because the outer casing is cracked.

So I emailed Viking hoping to buy new plastic coverings.

So after emailing pictures and a phone conversation, I was assured that it was just cosmetic and as long as the inner fiberglass tank was not damaged they are fine. We then discussed what to do next, this was their solution:

Woooow. What are the benefits to these over the standard propane tank?

Viking propane tanks.
They are extremely light at 12 lbs empty. They hold 22 lbs of propane. I think that when full at 22 lbs they are still lighter than a full 20 lb steel tank.

You can see the propane level in them through the side.

They don’t rust.
