Power steering shudder
Have an 08 f150 that has picked up a power steering shudder/vibration when turning from a stop or slowing down to make a turn. I have already changed the lower intermediate shaft and did not fix it. My question is since I installed a offroad bumper now the power steering cool gets very little air flow. Could over heating the power steering fluid cause these symptoms

Check for a warped rotor..

I would address the cooling issue regardless.

I drove from my sister's house to my house about 4 miles it drove fine could steer with an open palm. If I drive to town about 30 miles it picks up the shudder feeling but only at low rpm and idle anything above 1000 rpm it smooths out again in guess from the added pressure from spinning pump faster.

Don't think it's a rotor truck stops very smooth no steering vibrations from applying the brakes that I have noticed.

Rule out the cooling issue. Hot fluid may be aerating.
Can you relocate it, or cut an opening to allow air flow?

After looking closer this truck does not have a power steering cooler just a steel line run across the front cross member. Thinking about adding one now

heat could be part of the problem but my guess is the pump is getting weak. and the new heavier bumper is adding more stress on the steering so now you notice it more.

Yea guess I'll throw a new pump on it and see how it does not much left after that. I'll post some picks of the power steering line. Instead of a cooler there is a thin steel line that runs across the front cross member, not sure what ford was thinking there. So I will install one while I am monkeying around with the pump. Looks like a tight fit to reach all the lines.

That’s all the Jeep has, a single metal line making a loop in front of the cross member.
