My point would be that chain is potentially dangerous for recovery use. I've witnessed some near misses, sheared bolts, snapped hooks, and bent crossmembers.

Not recovery but towing or if need be to tie onto the hi lift jack. Trail repairs, etc.

Hand pump (water)
5 gal water (washing etc, not drinking)
Several pairs of Mechanix gloves
Several pairs of non latex gloves
Small tool bag with basic hand tools

Pen, pencil and paper

2 bottles of drinking water
2 blankets
Surgical first-aid kit (with common meds)
Tire first-aid kit (gauges, plugs, tools etc)
Orange reflective vest (like hiway workers wear)
Communications gear (CB and HAM)
Several flashlights
Several small towels (shop terry)
Collapsible back pack
2 Collapsible wind breaker jackets
Several lighters
Phone charger
Umbrella
Super siphon and 6 ft of transfer hose
Fire extinguisher
4 shackles
Safety beacon (instead of triangles)

That's all I can think of right now, might be missing a few things but that is close to all of it.
