Re: Offroad trailer ideas
I like the service bed trailer and the little m416 trailers but I would rather have a bit larger trailer like a m101 or m1101

Just remember that you have to drag those things behind you.

Not really afraid of pulling trailers off road, this is just one of my big ones.

No, you don't have trouble pulling a trailer off road although you may have a little maneuvering problem on bourbon street in Desoto NF. Smile

Well we tried out the 101a2/3 at chillin' and it worked just fine, but I think I want it to have a little more wiggle room ie headroom. To get this and still have room for a decent-sized bed, I ain't no little guy at 6'8" and 320 lbs, the 1101 is going to be my starting point. Here's a picture from chillin'.

Yeah I thought about that but if I use the M1101 the bed will actually fit between the fenders which drops the bed 12" and I actually get many other upgrades over the M101a2. The M1101 has an aluminum tub, the tailgate is setup to stop at 90 degrees, there are 2 rear supports for easier setup on odd and uneven campsites and no extra jack needed for tire changes, and it is just slightly wider. On the downside it is a little shorter and that might be a problem for too tall here, for those who don't know I am 6'8".

Okay wondering about the top and sides stock factory top is vinyl with 4 flimsy metal conduit type bows and no slat type sides. They make a enclosure that will fit but I don't want to lose a bunch of space and have to lift it in and out by wrecker. I am thinking about using a set of humvee troop seats and modifying them to fit and then add a hard top of some type that can be raised and lowered as needed. Want something strong enough to hold 6-700 lbs.so I can pack on it or sit on it.

What's the measurements of the top of the trailer? Back in my low rider days it was common for guys to use a roof cannibalized from a van or SUV as a bed cover. Is there anything remotely the right size?
