RE: knives?
No pics, but I prefer the spiderco. knives. I used to sell the crap out of them, so they would give me free ones. They are pretty expensive, but hold a edge very well. I think I have traded off all of them for something or another. Now that Im not in the business, I cant afford to buy them. LOL

I've found that Swiss Army now makes lock blades. Can't beat the handiness of a Swiss Army, and a lock blade...priceless. Well, about $40 worth.

My trusty Leatherman KICK that Nismogone gave me about six years ago. It was a thank you gift for hosting rides for him and Mdawg back in the day.
The only thing wrong is that I broke the tip this year working on the truck. Aside from that, the hinges are still tight, and everything works as it did when it was new. I feel naked without this tool.

I also have a Apalacian Trail knife in the door pocket of my truck that is the camp cooking knife on our rides.

I also have an Estwing hatchet that I bought when I was 17 and working in a hardware store. Over 30 years later, it is still an awesome instrument. It resides right next to my drivers seat, ready to clear fallen trees and brush. The leather handle rotted away over time, so I made my own handle from reinforced rubber and urethane rubber.
I consider it a knife because teh blade is kept that sharp. Yes

I've got a Gerber multi-tool similar to the Leatherman. I bought it about 25 years ago, several years before Leathermen started getting popular.

Re: knives?
My EDC is a Spyderco SS Native in my pocket and a Leatherman Wave in a pouch on my belt. I've got several Cold Steel knives that I rotate into that combo when I want a change of pace.

My Leatherman has been back to the factory two or three times for repairs, all covered under warranty. I pound on that thing ruthlessly. It sees more action than the bulk of my other tools combined.

I typically carry a smith and wesson extreme ops stainless knife with a 3 and 1/2 inch blade. I have an appalachian trail multi tool that stays with my fishing/ camping gear. It's ok just nothing like the quality of a leatherman.

My favorite knife was made by my uncle. He bought the blade which is about 2 and 3/4 inch cutting edge. He hand made the wood handle which is oak taken from a tree which fell on the family land during katrina. He also made the leather holster which he branded.

What sparked this thread is that I began drooling over kershaw knives. I think I fell in love with the kershaw leek. It has speed safe assisted open and tip safety lock so it doesn't open in your pocket. It has a 3inch blade. The one I want has a composite blade which offers a very durable steel on the back of the blade and the edge made of a steel which is designed to hold an edge for a very long time.
