You may have mentioned this among the previous 7 pages, but I haven't read every post. So, You gona use the Calmini hardware kit to mound your axle, or fab your own?

Fab my own. I'm using coils and radius arms.

Knowing you, you will probable be using modified and strengthened bicycle forks for the radius arms! Laughing1
Or maybe a couple old tractor 3-point hitch center links. They are adjustable for camber angle tuning!

RE: Project: SAS the FM
Thursday (Thanksgiving) I did some preliminary work including griding off the weld on the long side so I can remove the end casting and shorten that end.

Friday I bought a new handle for my sledge and replaced that. Now I have a hammer capable of driving that casting off the tube. It rained all day Friday.

Today (Saturday) I got industrious with the BiggerFH. It was pretty exciting to see that casting budge. After about 30 minutes it had moved 1/4". Diligence and a strong desire won the day when that puppy dropped off like a fat tick. Big Grin

I did all of the narrowing on one side so that I would only need one custom length inner. I took exactly 5" off the long side. I matched the overall width of the waggy axle exactly so that I could at least use the waggy's drag link.
Although the waggy axle is the same width as my now-modified housing, the 5 inche difference in the waggy is evenly split across both sides. In other words, the waggy inners are 2 1/2" different than my inners because my chunk has a dofferent offset. It will still use the stock ford inner on the short side. Clear as mud?

Here is my custom casting driver setup. Spiffy, eh?

Final assembly after alignment, prior to welding.

First weld pass

Final weld. (I don't have a single clear shot)

Tomorrow I plan to tear down the waggy axle for its parts. I hope to have the axle built enough to start planning the swap.

lookin good. however i would have waited to weld it up until you get it under the truck. that way you could adjust the caster/pinion angle as needed. are you planning on running the stock style frame side radius arm bushings? are you going to get a chromo axle for the long side shaft or get a stocker cut and resplined?

I no nothing about the bushings at this point. Feel free to school me.

I plan to get a stock shaft sortened and resplined. This truck does not make much torque.
