RE: Project: SAS the FM
Mark scratch around on the axle tube and get the build code, look it up on the net, google Mr.N dana 44 axle info.
He is like the dana master and Parts Mike is also a good source for parts and info. I can't remember year but 83 comes to mind. Nothing on a dana is written in stone.

How do you remove ball joints from a D44? Any common pitfalls or tips? Do they just press out?

How does one go about removing these plugs from the hubs?

RE: Project: SAS the FM
they press out just like any other balljoint. not really and pitfalls except they have probably been there a while so a good soaking with pb blaster for a few days will help. and the drive slug covers pop right off with a screw driver

That is a great deal. Thanks. I really want to try to set it up with radius arms first, though. I may be interested in the spring packs, though. I'll stop by next time I am over that way.

It's time to get started on the axle rebuild. I hope to start working on it this weekend. I won't have much time, but I intend to at least get started.
Actually, the first thing I need to do is order a ball joint press kit.

I have one you can borrow if it'll make things easier for you.
