ok any one have an idea
Ok got the starter problem worked out but its still doing the cutting out and jerking it starts after the truck gets warm and in 2nd gear sometimes i can down shift and it will act right and go another 200 feet before it starts again but it rare. it does this everytime i try to drive it. it idles fine it will sit there and run untill its out of gas sitting still doesnt over heat or loose coolant, but it does have a tapping noise comming from the exhaust side of the motor kind of sounds like a small 2 cylinder diesle engine it disapears at about 2000 rpms but comes back as soon as it drops back to idle. Pulled the plugs the other day and had a little carbon build up on all 4 plugs and 3 were wet with gas or oil couldnt really tell my nose wasnt pulling it out real well but number 1 was dry. this is were we would i would normaly post all i have replaced and done but i dont think this sight is big enough (LOL) id have to have a personal sight like res. Any help would be greatly appreciated

X2 on buy'n a jeep! Jeeps are all or nothing, they dont tease you with running a little bit. They'll either run like hell or you have a days worth of mechanic work ahead of you. Good luck!!!!

Kris and I put a fuel pressure gauge on his truck this afternoon. I think we have the problem narrowed down to a restriction in the fuel line of a bad/weak fuel pump. Hopefully some new fuel line and maybe a fuel pump will cure his problems. Thanks for the electrical goodies Kris!!

thanks for the gauge and the help oh and a kinked hose was found later comming off the fuel tank may even be that simple we hope to have it done for the ride no matter what the problem. Again thanks Will.

How about the fuel cap itself? I had a truck once that developed a clog in the fuel cap's vent hole. It would draw a vacuum after driving awhile, then stumble and sometimes even shut down completely. Different temperature conditions would affect it, in different ways, disguizing the problem.

I finally figured it out when it totally quit one time. I decided to check the fuel level with a dipstick (piece of wire). As I removed the cap, I heard the air rush in. It cranked right up after that.
