My girlfriends brother has a 1997 chevy 2500 4x4 with the 6.5 turbo deisel in it.

So far since ive been around I've pulled the intake one time changed the pmd, Did the rear brakes and repacked the rear wheel bearings,
pulled the intake again and relocated the pmd, Changed the front rotors and all new brakes on the front.

Now they have a new problem.

After a new water pump this summer the heater has stopped working.

I put 2 new thermostats that open at 195 in it.
A new heat/ac switch cluster on the dash.
Check all the fuses.
Found all the little servo motors or whatever they are call under the dash and checked them they all work great.
Even checked to see if water was getting to the heater core.

The temp gauge on the dash says the truck is only heating up to just over 165 degrees.

But all you get out of the heater is cold air!

The boy that drives it says its a very cold to and from school and to and from work!

Anyone have any ideas i could be missing?
yep i know the answer to this one my friend what has been missed is to replace the Chevy emblem with a FORD!!!!!!!
Heater core may be clogged.

I had to take the water hose and force water back and forth through the lines to clean out the Yota's core when I had no heat.

Worked just fine after that.
Buy him a coat. Laughing

Since the problems started after replacing the water pump, I would say you got a bad water pump. It is probably bypassing.
I once got a reman water pump that leaked through a devect in the casting. I could have returned it, but it was easier for me to drill and tap it for a machine screw and some loctite. Big Grin
MarkyB your were correct about the Heatercore being stopped up.

I pulled the return hose off the radiator and there was no water coming out of the hose even though the engine was running!

Replaced it and heater works just fine!
