Me and and a buddy of mine just finished installing two extra batteries in the bed of the dakota used an old plastic tool box to place them in. One battery controls the winch and the other controls the 20 lights (make that 19 broke one off) and never affect the front battery. They are wired to charge of the alternator when the shut off switch is on which disconnects both back batteries from the front when the toggle switch is off. Also installed were quick connects for front and rear mounting of the winch and jumper cables. So now I can jump start a vehicle and never raise the hood or jump start myself. Everything works great. Only a few more mods and maybe the dakota will be able to trail ride again.

Why do you need 20 lights...?

Seriously.
Could you post up some pics of the batts and the q connects and everything, that is awsome. I have thought about adding an extra batt, but having all that would be great. I would like to see it done, and maybe it will give me more insight.
Thanks...
Pics coming tonight got to dark to get any last night by the time we finished. And no I don't need 20 lights I just want them.
Well use the 20 well 19 lights to take a picture in.

Battery #2 only has lights connected to it
Battery #3 only has front and rear winch quickconnects connected to it

Battery #1 (main Battery) was linked with 2ga wire to eltronic relay then to Battery #2 and #3 batteries then grounded to frame

Both batteries charge from main alternator only when relay is active, which is controlled by a toggle switch in the dash
