Front bumper build

RE: Front bumper build
I like it so far, but how many bolts are holding it to the frame? I only see 2 Mine mounts like yours and I have 8 1/2 inch grade 8 bolts holding the bumper to the truck and I had to strenthen the truck frame with a 1/2 plate where the winch mounts to feel good about it. 12,000 pounds is alot especially if your side loading it

Are you going to cut holes to get to the winch controls?

Are you going to brace it up anymore? looks like it could use it especially at the bottom where your more likely to hit something. and some vertical braces where you have the winch mounted

sorry I don't mean to come off as a butt. I pretty much built mine and i just want to help anyway I can
this is what I based mine off of.

my middle section is pretty much like the first pic but the wings are sort of a hybrid tube bumper with plate over it like this.

I wish I would have took pics of building mine but I just wanted to get done with it

There is 8 grade 8 1/2 in bolting it on the two on the pic were just to start it. Yea I ran out of steel to make a couple of braces but with all the bends it should be ok. I bolted the winch straight to the bumper so all the pressure is put on the frame where I used 1/2 on plate and 4 inch tube as my mounting brackets. Oh and the bottom edge is also got two extra bolts where my factory tow hooks use to be bolted to the frame. I'll post more pics of that later had to get ready for leaving out tonight get some sleep I'll be driving all night

Yep that sounds good. sounds like you did a heck of a good job

I just seen only two bolts and was worried. I have seen people mount winches on some flimsy stuff and expect it to hold. I'm glad I wasn't around when they tried to use it.

I didn't relize the bottom was bolted to the frame too. that should be plenty of bracing.

I built this winch mount to fit just like the guy wanted. It was mounted to flimsy 3/16 plate that held the brush guard on and stuck way out from the frame . I voiced my concern but its what he wanted. I'm sure its going to bend the first time he tries to side load it even a little

Yea I for got to mention the way the winch is turned my access is thru the hood when I pop it to connect the remote I can get to the controls that way really easy so no hole cut on the front so far but may add a couple if things try to run hot going down the road

Thanks hoping to get it painted and some lights mounted soon. Not sure what lights I want to go with. So many options out there now and trying to stay on budget

RE: Front bumper build
Missed this one. Looks good. What kind of press did y’all use to make the bends? Might check out my bumper threads for ideas on flush mounted lights. I think that would really set it off.
