RE: 42 GPW
Bubba did a number on the rear of the tub and the frame horns. I've been thinking about the toolboxes and I'll probably replace them all together. Cross member needs some attention. Here is a short video.

Started the tear down Monday and got my first batch of parts.

Speedometer is a Stewart Warner.

Fuel Gauge is a Stewart Warner. Early Long needle type

Only the Speedometer and Fuel gauge are the correct ones for the Jeep. These others are later gauges. (50's maybe)

Looks to be an original panel light switch. Douglas MFG

Got a bit done today. Removed some scrap from the tub and cut the front bumper off. Started sanding off the old paint on the hood to prep it for welding. Tomorrow I should have the fenders and grill off.

Frame horns need some tlc. Rat Patrol?? I made a miscalculation when cutting and damaged the right frame horn,,,,oops.

I had a leak from the rear pto cover on the d18 so I got the proper parts to fix it.

Started to clean up the winch. It's a Koenig C-100. It's missing the mounting bracket and lever. It turns freely. I did a little test fitting with the pto and it should clear the exhaust and axle fine. [Image: 88308e80729822da96ea6c0758dda9c6.jpg]

Got the grill stripped down and separated the t84/d18. Not sure which I'm going to disassemble first.

The T84 is from a slat grill Jeep. Date code C17-42 which translates to March 17, 1942

Here is the D-18 main shaft gear. note the half F-script stamp.

RE: 42 GPW
So I found whats left of the front countershaft trust washer in the bottom of the t84 and we got some countershaft gear carnage. Overall I guess the transmission guts are in pretty good shape for being 75 yrs old.
