RE: Silverado2500 superduty axle swap and more
I dropped everything back out for the last time yesterday. When it goes back in hopefully I'll be completely done with front end other than a few brake lines and hydraulic lines for ram. Here's my list of parts for the week:
-Detroit
-D60 rebuild kit
-5:13 gears
-Spicer balljoints
-Caliper
-Ext brake lines

I may wait on the brake related things for now.

Pressure washing axle before disassembly.

I got my locker rebuild kit and balljoints in Thursday. The gears wound up being back ordered so I couldn't get it geared this weekend.

I did get a few things done though. Welded in a cap on the front of my radius arm brackets to add a little bracing.

I got everything on the frame that needed painting right now painted.

Radius arms primed.

Pulled the old bearings off to measure shims.

Pressed out the old ball joints. Gonna sandblast them this afternoon and get them primed.

I'm gonna wait on painting the axle housing till it's locked an geared so I don't risk messing paint up moving it around in the gearing process.

Got the knuckles sand blasted, new ball joints installed and primed between church today.

And since it no longer has 3.73s it only seamed like the right thing to do.

Got everything hung for paint Sunday afternoon and got a light tack coat of paint on. Everything isn't going to stay red only a few things. I'm thinking red tie rod for sure along with drag link and shocks and black everything else. I was gonna do red bolts on cover but that's gonna be hard not to scratch having to tighten them. I'd love to hear suggestions for color scheme.

May even do plated grade 8 bolts on cover. Since all other bolts are grade 8.

Tuesday afternoon I got the first heavy coat on. Red turned out real good, I think everything that's black needs a second coat.

I had church tonight so Thursday night I'll get second coat. Hope to bolt it together and tighten up everything.

Everything turned out as good as I could have hoped for. Still gonna go back and paint the diff bolts red with a brush.

Next is get transfercase adaptor finished up, mount T case, check gears in 14bolt, install 14bolt, build/modify driveshafts, crank, button up and tear it up!
