I picked up a few more spikes this week, decided to tinker with one after work tonight. The great part is that I've actually been able to hammer out the edge, while keeping the spine thick. The first knife, I had to grind on quite a bit to get as drastic of a difference in blade width. I still need to draw more of the spike down into the blade, make longer, but I did it right this time, and lengthened the spike by hammering out closer to the head. So far, I think I'm going to make a basic drop point with a rounded groove on the underside, at the hilt. Should work out pretty well tomorrow.
There's also a piece of aluminum that I pulled out of the forge, I'm guessing it's from some ash that I used out of the fire pit for the charcoal on top. I think it's pretty neat and should make an interesting paperweight.
Oh yeah, there's some pictures of Santana in there too. He's a great dog. New years, he'll be a year old (no, that's not his actual birthday but because I didn't know when his birthday was, just a round about time line, new years is close, and it seems perfect) and he's a great dog, he really loves to sit around the forge and watch me work.
