But really, That's cool that you held onto all that stuff. You might think about learning how to do some of this if you ever wanna pick up the hobby/trade.

Yeah, I need a lid for it too. There's a method of burning charcoal in it that I found and it seems to work pretty well.

I'm working on a new project. I've got some 1/2" square stock that used to be an old fireplace grate for the wood. I'm thinking about doing a large bowie or drop-point knife. I found a site called http://www.britishblades.com, it's given me the ability to see other people's work and how professional and beautiful some of those knives are. I saw a knife on Google that was made from steel cable, the smith didn't make a wood handle for it. He formed it out of the steel and rounded it out. Looked really great. I'm thinking about going that route, not really sure though. It's still really early, I just started hammering out the blade tonight. I didn't work too long on it, I just can't seem to concentrate right now. I'll get some pics when I get a little farther on it though.

I picked up a few more spikes this week, decided to tinker with one after work tonight. The great part is that I've actually been able to hammer out the edge, while keeping the spine thick. The first knife, I had to grind on quite a bit to get as drastic of a difference in blade width. I still need to draw more of the spike down into the blade, make longer, but I did it right this time, and lengthened the spike by hammering out closer to the head. So far, I think I'm going to make a basic drop point with a rounded groove on the underside, at the hilt. Should work out pretty well tomorrow.

There's also a piece of aluminum that I pulled out of the forge, I'm guessing it's from some ash that I used out of the fire pit for the charcoal on top. I think it's pretty neat and should make an interesting paperweight.

Oh yeah, there's some pictures of Santana in there too. He's a great dog. New years, he'll be a year old (no, that's not his actual birthday but because I didn't know when his birthday was, just a round about time line, new years is close, and it seems perfect) and he's a great dog, he really loves to sit around the forge and watch me work.

Okay, so here's today's work. Again, the finishing touches still need be applied. I attempted a blood line, and failed... I guess I'll need a second set of hands before I can attempt that accurately. Hope you like my second work. I figured I'd go the drop-point route after the blade started to shape that way naturally. I need to figure out what's wrong with my twist, it's getting loose at the pommel. Any ideas on that?

My pawpaw has got some blacksmithing stuff out behind is pump house. I think he's got and old vice and a hand operated blower for a forge. He wont let it go anywhere because he think he might use it one day.
