The C6 in my 84 ford is acting up on me!
I have know idea on how many miles or service records.

I can be truckin on down the road anywhere between 45 and 75 in third gear.
At random times the trans will just stop pulling and the engine will tack up.
After it quits i can just leave it in gear and roll on down the road a ways and it will catch back and drive just like before.
Full of fluid and runs pretty good any other time.

I tightened the band bolt down and backed off a half turn like someone said and it still does it.

Kinda lost on this and dont want to attempt even an easyride if i cant get it to act right.

Any tricks or ideas would be very helpful!!
Replace the filter.
that would be the first thing to do cheapest also if that doesnt fix it drop it and rebuild that is a great trans in my opinion rebuild is fairly easy not sure about the cost but its been a while since ive fooled with a trans but i will help if you need it but try the filter first and do you have a trans temp gauge if not get one and watch the temp might just need a trans cooler
Yeah what they said, if I remember correctly a rebuild kit for a C6 is around 200$. There isn't much to rebuilding them just have a clean work bench and lay your parts in order as they come out. I think I have a automatic trans manual if you would like to borrow it
Thanks guys i found out what i beleave the problem was.

The Filter in the bottom of the pan was very clean but i had the new one so i replaced it anyway.

-What i think the problem was.

I was inspecting the pan and the bottom had been pushed up toward the filter.

As if a tree stump or something of that sort was drug under it.

I layed the pan over a milk crate and beat on it with a big hammer till it was bent out the other way.
Im pretty sure the pan was massed against the filter slowing the flow of fluid under heavy pulling untill the tc was out of fluid and quit pulling.
All back together and i Disturbed the small towns of Ellisville and Laurel Riding around untilll 11 tonight and never had a problem.
Im going to drive it somemore tomorrow and ill keep it posted untill i trust its fixed.
That is good news. Gotta love a problem that can be fixed with a hammer. Gavel
