I had a hunch you would chime in, sheepdog. I know this old school technology is your forte.

My plan is to pick up new plugs and wires this payday, since it needs them anyway.
While the plugs are out, I will do a compression test on all 8.
If no compression issues, I will install the plugs and wires and retest.
If compression issues are present, I will be tearing into it.
I hope it is just wires.

I replaced the plugs and wires, along with a fresh cap for good measure, and we are back in business.
Thanks for all the help and support.

ha.. bet the cap and rotor button looked like hell... and if you hada misted water over the plug wires while it was runnin you woulda seen all the cross firing... its a pretty cool thing... does nothing for power... but looks cool LOL
Cap and rotor were recently replaced, so they weren't bad at all.
Glad That worked out for ya Rez I've learned the hard way more than once to start with the small stuff and go from there.

The only thing I replaced that was still serviceable was the coil. The old one was crispy on the bottom from a previous cap failure, but it still worked.
