I just recived my Associates degree in Machine shop tech in the mail today. I am so happy about it. I won 1st district competition my senior year of high school and placed 2nd place state this year at post secondary level and still am having trouble finding a job.
I know experience is what everyone wants but it is hard to find expirence when no one will hire you. If anyone works in this field or has any employment advice please share with me.
Louisville. It's about 30 miles south of Starkville.
I'm from Louisville too but haven't lived there in 5-6+ years so not to up-to-date on who's still open/closed. I used to work at US Motors as a buyer and knew a lot of local shops. I now live in Richland just outside of Jackson. I know of some good shops around here but not sure if you are wanting to head this way or not.
I know of a few people from that area that now work at Rockett, they have been around for a long time. They do great work and appear to be good to there people. I'm not sure if they are hiring or not. I can give you more if you are interested in this area. Good luck with your search.
Taylor Machine Works laid off almost everyone a year ago and have only called back 20% of them so there went my place of employment here.
I would rather stay local for now but if nothing turns up I will probably have to locate to Jackson. What is Rockett? I have not came across them in any of my searches.

Yeah I don't blame you. I would still be there today if I could have found something local.
Here is a site for Rockett.

Check with Missippi Welding & Machine (726-5593), its on Hwy 14 towards Macon. I don't know if they need any help... but it's a guy with a small shop by his house & actually does quiet a bit of work. He used to have 2 other full time employees & 1 that came in as needed. They did alot of work for the mill I used to work at.
