Gonna start this project tonight. The frame standoffs, sliders, and rails will be from .25 wall 2" square tube. The small braces between the sliders and rails will be .09375 wall 1" x 2" rectangular tube. The brace for attachment to the pinch seam will either be .125" x .75" x .75" angle or .125" x .75" flat stock. Tell me what you think, but make it quick...I start cutting this evening!!!
Have you considered doing the type where you cut out the rocker panel and weld in the tube?
the design looks good, but I have the same question Mark does and since you have no frame

what are they going to mount to?

I don't want to do any cutting to the body...yet. That is usually done when you have rust issues anyway, and I have no body rust.

See the instructions for JCR sliders for a similar mounting procedure. I will probably use self-tapping screws on the pinch seam instead of all those 5/16" bolts and nuts, though.
i like it think i like the sqaure tube better than the round (no offense if you have the round tube just one mans opinion) it just has a tuff look to it
Got some work done today by skipping the CMSJA meeting (I know, I know, but you gotta have priorities).
This pic is just the pieces I cut with the bandsaw fitted together...nice good fit with 1/16" gaps between all pieces.
I started by welding the 45's on the end of the kicker...
Then I added the 1" spacer blocks that go between the slider and the kicker...
Next I welded the slider onto the rest of it...
Then I added the standoffs that will mount to the unibody rails...
They are not symmetrically spaced on the slider, because I wanted them to mount to the rails in the locations that are 2 layers thick.
Close up of a bead or 2...
Here are some pics of how they will look after mounting...gonna be hard to wheel it with a jack on each side, so I'm gonna have to work something else out.
