hey yall, well i finally got enough parts to get this old truck together. a little back story is due.

the truck im building now is the old mud truck i had in highschool. my dad actually bought the truck new in 80 and it has been raced and mud bogged till he retired the truck before i got it.

when i got it i did what basically any ole country boy would do with a worn out high hp mud truck. i broke it alot. but dad always said... ya gotta pay to play. so i kept it together for a few years

well i parted the truck out when i went to college and vowed to put it back together when i got out of college and grew up some. i decided i was gonna buy another old legendary mud truck from the madison county area. but the truck was sold out from under me and was parted out. luckily i found the truck before it was totally stripped and was able to buy the remains. (thanks chris-highend2007) and i am in the middle of putting both trucks back together as one truck.

ok now for the build up part. i am using big blacks frame after i strip off the stuff i dont need and then im gonna build it from there.

got the body off the frame and now its time for lift and other mods im gonna do.

the truck had a 6 inch suspension lift and 3 inch body lift on it. the truck rode good and would flex like crazy for the limited amount of work done, but i wanted more
[Image: -1-4.jpg]

i decided to do the 52 inch spring swap on this truck, which takes the rear chevy springs from a half ton truck and move them up front. the factory front springs are 47 inches long. doing this swap moves the front axle around 2 inches forward on the frame and allows for alot better flex and softer ride. also stock rear springs give 4 inches of lift up front CHA CHING

factory chevy shackle angle is pathetic... hurts the flex of the spring

spring swap didnt solve the problem. but i aint done yet.

so i moved the shackle around 2 inches forward on the frame. worked out great. the shackles are from WRF thanks to Chris.

Nice build thread...keep it coming!!
so you did get the blue one back too right?
yeah. ill give a little bit of story here. the old blue chevy is my dads. i still have the whole body of it. and alot of parts that came of of it. i broke the frame and sold the drivetrain out from under it, with the intent of getting a new frame and starting over. i got lucky here recently and started trading and got 3/4 ton axles and a 205 tcase and then bought big black which set me up with a decent frame and a runnin engine and my old trans in it. so now i have all the hart parts to put this truck together. the stats for it now are as follows: mild built 350, th350, 205, d44HD front, FF14 bolt rear with 4.56s in them. i got the sleeve to adapt the shaft from the th350 to the 205 today from advanced adapters so im gonna try to get the tcase in the truck this weekend. when its done ill have the cab and front clip from ole blue and use BIG BLACKs stepside bed. then im gonna do the body work and paint it all the original blue color. as i said before this is a very personal buildup for me. i cant wait to get it back together and make many many more fun memories with it.
