My new toy (1987 p/u) wont start ulless you pull it off. It turns over fast enough to start but wont. It runs fine when you pull it off anybody got any ideas?
Possibly not getting enough juice to turn starter and fire plugs?
Also, could be no power to the fuel injection. (assuming its fuel injected and that its E.F.I.)
Pull a plug and see if you're getting spark when you crank it.
That's sort of what I was thinking. Your ignition switch or clutch switch may be bad, not allowing fuel or spark. If the clutch switch only prevents cranking, you can rule that out.
I'd go with Marky's idea and check for spark / fuel during cranking. You know you have it during "run".
I would guess that it's the ignition switch. I've seen them go bad where you lose you ignition hot when in the "starting" position. I would change that first.
Sorry nismogone i'm not that jeeped off at the yota yet. We checked fire from the coil to the cap and it looked good and it is gettin gas. maybe just not enough spark and gas? By the way the plugs, wires, cap, and button are new.
from the experience with my 83 there should be a wire comping from the starter to the computer module check for a loose connection.
I have no idea, but i think you just need to sell it to me.......
It's been two years. He probably got it figured out by now.
