they still race 4wd's but a 2wd is much easier and cheaper to build and less parts to break. and being 4wd isnt much of an advantage unless you are in loose sand or silt at slow speeds.

X2 man that would look cool!
Scooter said I should post the ROUGH rendering of the paint scheme I intend to do. This was only done to determine approximate size and "weight" of the graphic and colors. The actual graphic will look like clasic hod rod flames.

Today's progress:
Cut the opening for the gauge plate.
Here you can see the gauge bracket. I was trimming the support structure to allow for a P-seal when I get the right stuff. I thought I had some, but it was the wrong type.
The filler panel drilled and plug welded to the bracket. The gauge bracket will attach to this eventually.
Intake hole cut and the edge flanged for strength and to keep crud from falling on the engine.
Modifying the air cleaner.
Here it is in place. After final fitting, I will finish the edge of the pipe, smooth the welds and paint it.
Plenty of clearance to allow for engine movement.
The scoop welded in place, ready for filler.

Looks good Res. Do you think that will help to keep water out of the air breather?

The intake is now 2" above the hood. That puts it 8 or 10" higher than it was. I also chopped off the section that goes to the choke stove. It doesn't work with the header and I don't forsee a problem with carb icing.
In other words, yes, it will help alot.

You know, of course, you have assured us of having sub-zero-deep-freeze winter now.
