Sell the yota and keep the jeep! Yeah thats a good idea, you can fix up the jeep and use it for a daily driver!
usually to pull the ignition switch out you have to turn it to acc and like unscrew somethin if yer wantin to replace it? Or get some of that graphite lube and see if it loosens things up?
all of the ignition switches i've ever messed with you have to pull the steering wheel off. and the column cover. and keep removing stuff until you get down to the ignition lock cylinder. usually there is one screw that holds it in. unscrew it then repair/replace it as needed.
i had a94 yota with the same prob, i beat it death enuff to cram a flat head in it and that worked for months, when that quit, i snatched the wires from under the dash and put a acc. toggle switch and push button start......but between me and you it was a double light switch for a house, truck was an ole work truck, but it worked fine
I had the same thing happen to my 94 b2300. Took the column out, ground off the lock and wired up a acc. switch and push-button start. The look on the salesman's face when i traded that thing in was priceless! haha
well i can't drive it so puttin a switch and button dont sound bad. but i dont know what wires to use there is a few that hook to it. i all ready got the dash out and can see. i'm gonna stop by the yota place tomorrow and see if anyone will help me.
no point in putting a buttom in it if you can't turn the wheel. You need to get the steering wheel unlocked for that to work well...
Hey Look, Tator is making a Left turn... There he goes again making a left turn.
I am not familiar with Toyota lock cylinders and switches. I have replaced them on GM vehicles, though.
On them, you have to remove the lock cylinder before you can remove the switch. To remove the cylinder, you have to turn it to ACC, then stick a paper clip in the tiny hole in the lock face and pull the cylinder out. If it is column mounted, there was a hole in the side of the switch that you stick the wire into, if I recall correctly
Anyway, it is usually something like that.
In a modern ford. You turn it one click, and push a release pin. Then turn it all the way to crank and pull. The cylinder will come out in your hand then.
