it has been grinding on somethin and i can't figure out what
With those pics, I cant tell either. LOL
With A Thread Name Like This, It Was Scary To Even Look!!!...lol
It looks as if you're pinion is loose. It may be a bad pinion bearing or It may have simply loosened up.
The deflection of the pinion gear is allowing it to cut into the carrier. Of course, that is just my pinion. (Little pun there.

)
Block the wheels and put it in neutral. Crawl under and check for looseness in the pinion shaft by shaking it where the driveshaft attaches.
Are there any broken teeth? If there are, there will be pieces laying in the bottom. Run a magnet around in there and in the oil. Are there shavings? Lots of metal?
My thought is that it may be repairable, but if it is, it will likely be noisy from now on unless you replace the gears. The noise may be quite tolerable, though.
as far as i know there are no broken teeth and a small amount of metal shavings, the drive shaft popped out when it locked up. i'm not very mechanically inclined so i'm just kinda goin by ear
Have you been able to turn the gears back and forth to free them up?
If it is still jammed, I am going to guess that your pinion bearings went bad. That is fixable.
no the gears won't turn at all
