Hey everyone. My name is John, but most folks call me Nealio. I drive a 2005 Nissan Xterra 4x4. Not too many mods done yet (2.5" S/L, BFG ATs, Coleman rack, Shrockworks rear bumper, several decals, and a custom clinometer) I just got her back in December after spending 3 months in the dealership due to an unfortunate encounter with a lightning bolt. But, $10,000 worth of electrical damage later (only paid for $500 of it), I am back and ready to get dirty. I don't know of many places in the area here, and I am only going to be here until April. But, I am searching for spots to wheel. I am more into trailing and hill climbing than mudding. My Xterra doesn't particularly care much for mud. So, if anyone knows some good spots around the Gulf Coast area, hit me up. I have also hit up FOR, but not a full member yet.
Welcome. You have found two of the best sites for what you are looking for. We are a little slow on rides at the moment, but keep an eye on the Trail Rides forum, because they pop up on short notice quite often.
Hey, Kevin, it's another NISSAN!!!
You made it!!! Glad you joined, I think you'll enjoy it.

Welcome

Welcome.. I was in the Sami when your X was buried....
Thanks for the welcomes, guys. Much appreciated! I have been doing a little exploring here in the Gulf Coast area over the past few weeks. Usually Saturdays. With my limited time left here, I'm not looking for anything big and crazy. Just some trails, hills and the like. I'll keep my eyes peeled for any rides, though.

Deploying? PCS'n?
Find anything? My sami should be up and running soon... I'm always down to go play.
I got orders to go back to Norfolk, VA April 8th. So, PCSing. I am only here for Navy weather forecasting school, which was 9 months long. Unfortunately, half of that time, the X was in the dealership from the lightning strike. BTW, when I was buried a few weeks ago, you mentioned that you knew my X from the lightning strike. Did you hear about it on Freedom, or somewhere else?
I have found 2 or 3 places, probably same places that everyone else knows about. 67 powerlines. an area just off highway 15 (north of diberville), and of course, the Grande area. Although, when I was leaving that area on Saturday, some folks came out of one of the houses and started yelling. Not sure why. I am doing some satellite research trying to find other places. Friday I might go take a look. Gotta love the Air Force and their CWS Friday's.

There is a spot in between Vancleave and Latimer that looks promising. But, that is only judging from local.live.com satellite imagery. We shall see.
Read your lightning story on Freedom lol..
