aint called the honda shop yet but anyone got a good guess on the jeting for this altitude its got a 173 in it now and i think its gonna be a little lean as this bike came from co thanks for any help
I've been out of the loop too long to give advice. You may get away with raising the needle, but it may be hard to tell without firing it up. You may find that it was running way too rich in CO and is fine here around sea level.
this bike is the right era res its an 87
You can probably Google a chart.
how would you phrase it tryed specific
Try "Mikuni" (or whatever brand carb) "jet chart"
thanks mark good call
well how does it run? half throttle stuttering and jumping then id bump the needle up one(raise the clip one) or stuttering at full throttle then id get atleast a 175 or 178 main jet. there pretty cheap so you can buy alot. im more familuar with four strokes, but if it runs fine throughout the power band then leave it alone.... it is a two stroke so its gonna stutter and jump some so just keep that in mind. but damn! a cr500 is a fast as bike.........
it is a little fat all the way throug the throtle and fouls plugs like crazy but
5th is the only gear you got a choice if the front tire comes up ill give the needle a try thanks
i have the specs and will get them tomorrow. i think the stock jet was a 168 on a keihin 38mm carb. i have a spare 87 cr500 engine if anyone is looking.
