Fat Kid

Not sure where to put this, but the lovely lady I happen to be married to said I could get a winch for Christmas. So the question is, does anyone know about the Warn dual winches? In case you don't know, these things have a air compressor built in. I have already priced these, and the 9500 lbs is the same price as the 12000 lbs. So, is bigger better? Is it worth the extra cost to have on-board air? Any input would be great. I HOPE to have this thing a few weeks early for Monkey Town.

Here is a link:

ask any lady bigger is better:laughbounce3:

on board air is great especially if you need to change a tire or fix a flat

or pump up a keg of beer Bulb
I'd rather have a separate compressor. And an 8000 to 9000# winch is all you'll need on your Jeep. Warn, Ramsey, or T-Max.

That's what I was thinking

X3 FOR ME
A huge winch is way over kill for a Jeep. More weight which is not a good thing, as well as more winch than you will ever need. Buy one good enough for your size vehicle and put the extra money on something else.
ive seen ppl with the dual winches and talked w/ them about it. they all said its worth the extra money. get online and look at the difference in weight. i think in just a few pounds different. a 9500 is way more than plenty. mainly b/c you can always get a slightly smalled winch and use a snatchblock and multiply your pulling power.

x2 on the separate units. I'm a firm believer in the K.I.S.S. theory. Separate air/winch would be separately maintenance issues and easier(cheaper) to service each. Also, adding a winch to the already heavy front end of a Jeep is enough without adding a compressor and tank, too. I built my onboard air system for about $150 from Harbor Freight and Viair components. It will air up tires and run air tools with the best that 5 or 600 bucks can buy. Spend good money on a winch (go small - it's only to pull YOU out, not your buddy's F650) and get your wife to give you the $150 you saved by not buying the powerplant model to build your own air system!! Oh, and can you have your wife talk to my wife?
Hey 601Cherokee can I put onboard air on my cherokee? If so how do I do it?
i would go with like a 9000 lb winch. warn i believe is definately the way to go
