I think third gen is 96-02. What year did your axle come out of? The best thing to do is go to TTORA or Pirate4x4 and get some info from there. Those guys are really knowledgeable just make sure you do some reading before you post they can be harsh sometimes.
for dirt you can get as far away as .08. like my rear has 4.63 and im putting a 4.56 in the front thats .07 right on the line!

Dang, well i guess i should find a rear 8" then.
there at the house im gonna stay with stock rear till i can afford the 5.14 for the rear!

I really think if you looked you would very easily find some 4.30 gears for the yota axle.
We are still talking about the front axle right? This might be a dumb question, but are the 3rd member's interchangeable? Will the rear gears go in the front?
Yes the front axle. I am not sure about them being interchangeable. What I was trying to say is that that is a very popular axle and it seems like finding a gearset would be easy. It seemed like you were stuck on finding something factory when I think they make the gears you are looking for in the aftermarket.
i ran 4.11s in the rear and 4.56 in the front for years with no issues. i mostly ran mud at the time so it was hard for the drivetrain to bind up. i would not if provided the choice. i would not rock crawl with that set up.
