I'm trying to decide what gears to run in my 87 toy i'm runnin 37's on it now with stock gears but i'm in desperate need of upgrade. Any help as to what ratio and what brand gears would be greatly appreciated. i'm thinking 5.29 and should i lock the rear or not i run it on the street some to.
yukon 5.71 lockrite or aussie locker. both are great and very reasonably priced.
thanks i'll have to look into them.
marlin crawler or trail gear can hook you up!
i think i'd stick with 5.29s the pinion on 5.71s will be pretty tiny. you may still be a little underpowered with 37's but lower t-case gears will help with that.
i am running 39.5x15x14"wide super swamper boggers on my '94 toyota with yukon 5.29:1 gears and detroit locker , runs well on the road my buddy is running the same set-up with 38's
i have the aussie locker with 36s in the front axle and have had no problems. i just got my 38s will keep you posted. i would not go weaker than a 5.29 gears.
just found out that gears are the least of my problems motor has developed major oil leak and valve seals are gone.
if its a 22re engine overhaul kits are extremely reasonably priced.

in my old toy i was running 5.29 and spools front and rear with 40 in boggers and had no problem but with the 5.71s the pinion is likely to shear off thats the experiancei have had
