I have an arctic cat 650 that when idling runs smooth, but when you get on it to ride when you give it gas to go it spits and sputters and backfires. anyone know anything about these bikes
I got a 03 500m. Sounds like your jetting is off or check your sparkplug. For more enough about your kitty check out
http://www.arcticchat.com plenty of info there.
I'm with MudCrawler; clean and re-gap, or replace the spark plug/s. If that does not fix it, Clean your fuel bowl and blow out the jets. Pilot jet could have some junk in it.
thanks for your help guys supposedly the shop where i picked it up from said they cleaned the carbs and installed new spark plugs. Im not too mechanically inclined but if I had a guide Im sure I can do it maybe need to look around for a repair manual.
Thanks,
Where ya located at? It prolly just has some trash in the carb bowl, If you cant get it done it'd be more than happy to give you hand.
If it's spitting and sputtering with a brand new sparkplug its the carb. Take it off clean it as best as you can. Also drain the gas tank. Did your cat go for a swim and died in the water?
most likely its the carb has some trash in it take the bowl off and check the idle jet but i am with the other guys check the plug too , also check your vent lines to see if they are clogged up and the air filter
If it has a Champion spark plug, swap in a real spark plug. I have had Champions fail in dirt bikes with no outward signs of failure. I just know that an NGK fixed my problem.
I had the same problem in a Chevy pickup. All new Champions and the truck ran worse. Replaced the new Champions with AC and it purred.
Im located in Byram MS. I think I have someone who maybe able to help, but thanks for the offer but if it falls through maybe we can get together to get id done
I hate be mechanically declined
