I just got a 91 Ford F350 4x4 crew cab dually, with a centuran conversion. It was a steal. It was free!!!!! The only prob, is it has a blown motor. Does anyone know where I can get a cheap crate motor. It has a 460. I was also thinking about converting it to a 7.3 diesel. How much would be involved in converting it? I have found a 91 f250 with a 7.3. I can probably get it for about $800. It needs the head gaskets replaced. Would that be worth it? I will post up pics when I get it to the house.
its really not that hard of a conversion just make sure you get the ecm for the diesel. and plz plz be sure to rinse out the gas tank extremely well. if not youll see fire from the exhaust. the engine mounts for the 460 and 7.3 are in the same location. its pretty much a drop in. now on the front you will have to swap to the diesels radiator due the the fact the CAC is mounted to it. a little hint for extreme power out of the 7.3 is to find a wrecked ambulance for that yr model and swap the injectors fuel pump and heui pump and the ECM. night and day difference in power. pm me if you have any more question.
I MIGHT, MIGHT be able to get you the ambulance stuff if you do the conversion. Notice I said "MIGHT". I'll see what I can do.
How much do you think it would cost to replace the head gaskets on the 7.3 that I found?
