I don't know if it was coincidental or not, but I had just aired my tires up to 30#, got in the Jeep and started my 45 mile trip. About 5 miles down the road, the amp and the rear speakers went completely out. The only thing that is working is the front speakers. What it could be? I checked to see if the wires were broken from the battery where the huge wire for the amp was tied in. The fuse in that same line looked good. I can't find my voltage meter right now, so I don't know about current at this point. What would you suggest?

check the ground. does the amp have a power light?
Air down to 28 psi.
Get a volt meter or test light and verify 12v at the amp. If not, trace it back until you find the break.
Like BC said check the power light on the amp. It could be alot of things. If you have no power light check power cables and fuses it could be the power coming from the radio. If you dont have a power light check connections to your speakers. What kind of amp and how old is it?
The rear speakers that aren't working, are they connected to the amp? Make sure you don't have any blown fuses on the amp itself.

It's an Alpine amp. I don't know how old it is. There is a little square light that is "supposed" to be lit on the top of it. I'll try to find my volt meter or go buy another one.
Thanks for all of the suggestions so far.

The rears are connected to the amp and I only see one fuse showing on the amp. It looked to be good.

I included the statement that when I aired up to 30#, the ride on the 33s were a considerable amount rougher, so I figured it could have jarred something loose.
Also check the "signal" or "remote" wire coming from the radio, make sure it has 12 volts on it with the radio on. I'd also check the ground.
The problem was the main 40A fuse powering the amp. I looked at it and it looked good. It wasn't broken, but when I jumped it with a screw driver, up came the sound. A quick trip to the auto parts store for a new fuse and all is well. Thanks again for all of the suggestions.
