Just one other note about my sound system. I was getting terrible engine noise through the system before the whole thing went out. I was getting that noise from day one of buying the Jeep but just thought I would have to completely reinstall the system. When I changed out the fuse, that noise went away. Must have been a really cheap piece of crap fuse in there before. I replaced what came in it with the gold series fuse. Now the sound is really good. I read where someone else was having the engine noise coming through as well. If you are still having it, change out that 40A fuse with a quality fuse and see if it fixes your problem as well.

Probably what happened was somehow the fuse almost blew but not quite and it had a bad connection internally and over time (and maybe even from the new rougher ride) the fuse just finally gave up and connection was completely lost. Either that or it was just a bad fuse to begin with.

It must have been bad for a long time. Like I said, it was a bad noise coming through for the two years I have had it. It's clear as a bell now. So, I'm glad I finally aired up the tires to a little rougher ride. Gave me a chance to fix the sound system without digging into it.
