i have a 92 full size bronco, my tranny fills like it is binding up in reverse... it has a E40D auto in it and works great as long as i am going forward... doesn't slip and shifts good... but in reverse it acts like it is in a bind and wont turn the tires over... it moves some but not real well... anybody ever heard of this?
Fluid level good? Cold weather will lower the fluid level at start-up due to contraction. Does it do better after the tranny is warmed up?
check your rear brakes just a hunch

i thought that, too...just didn't say it.
check your brakes? oops didnt read all the posts... lol
I'd start looking into drive line. Unbolt you drive shaft & turn the axle. 4 bolts.... Or..... Join FullSizeBronco.com and have all the bronco guru's give you the correct answer

E40d is a tricky thang......drop the pan, new filter and gasket......cheapest thing, if it works fine, if not, aint spent much money,,,,,oh yeah, that cross member is gonna be a PITA, oh yeah, James is most right...go to FSB, the guru's could set you straight, just dont pm Steve83 or put his name in the title of a post, all heck will come your way.....
I would seriosly check the rear brakes. When I worked at a ford stealership I had a 93 lightning that was doing that. If not the rear brakes, pull the pan and see if you have alot of metal in the bottom. I seen planatary sets locked up. And seen one way planatarys not one way any more and it binds up everything. I hate e4od and 4r100. Exspensive trans to rebuild.
thanks guys, what would mess up in the brakes?
brake shoes could catch on the drum, or just be caught up with the springs, not allowing the wheel to freely rotate both ways.
