anywhere from 150 to 500
good brands:
unichip
hypertech max energy
edge
i have had mixed results with jet - all in all spend it on a good intake, bored tb, etc
the hypertech unit is great - i sold mine (max energy version) and am going to step up to unichip but for he $ it was much better than the older III version which just gave me check engine codes
Note - these chips or power programmers are only best used with a lot of mods - intake, exhaust, header, etc to get the full effect

and is an intake going to help you much on the trail it just seems more for highspeed power to get the air flowing

yeah it really does - especially i well designed unit like aFe, k and n, etc - the usually have a heat shield that is molded to the hood or part of the engine depending on the model so you have a colder source of air while at slow speeds - also they tend to flow better and are made of a composite platic that does not abzzzorb heat

yeah that is what i have read is that with larger displacement engines there is more of a gain and more to get out so to say - no chip will get an extra 50 hp or torque out of an I6 but on your truck it is very possible... the hypertech for me on my heep smoothed out rpm band and gave me more uumph at higher rpms - it really complimented all i have done to my engine

I had a Edge in the F150. It was like night and day. Level 3 was bad but you have to run 93, so gas bill was high.
I gave $300 for the Edge.

With mine, I can set it to 1)Stock, 2)Towing, which is 70 more horses, or 3)High Performance, which is 120 more horses. And, of course, the torque increases with each level too, plus it changes the shift points.

thats cool man - the numbers on the hypertech for my 99 xj were just not anywhere that high... also the programmer for mine did not come with those options even though they were advertised - errr... sounds like you get all the cool stuff with the full sizes... i am looking into unichip for my heep becuase it has the most promise out of all the others - though i might just get the edge chip - not the trail jammer package - it has gotten ok reviews

so should i first get a chip or a intake and throttle spacer
