Either one or both of these components are going bad in my tranny since i can't shift into third from fourth and can only shift into third from second. Anyone know what the labor would be to get these installed, by themselves they are incredibly cheap so if labor isn't bad i may just get them installed by people who know what they are doing rather than me doing the trial and error method...Question
I don't know, just call around and get some prices.
A couple of thoughts: Make sure there is nothing interferring with the shifter/linkage. Sticks, mud, torn boot, etc.

Make sure the oil level is correct.

Make sure the clutch is fully disengaging, and not dragging at all.

Is it jumping out of gear? Any noises?
You have to disassemble the trans to change the synchronize rings, it will be a complete rebuild. The detent balls I think can be changed without removing the trans.
I checked everything like that when i first got it since my sis said there was something wrong. It doesn't jump out of gear or grind at all when i change either, and the clutch is new so it fully engages as far as i know. It wasn't really taken off-road that much with the previous owner so i doubt that would be too much of the problem. I'll check the levels today and see. Mike do you know a good transmission place around here? Would it be cheaper just to get a new one?
Wards trasnsmissions in Petal has always done good work for me. Jimmy Carter the owner of Amoco at 49 and west pine does work at his home and has done good work also.
