I took the Jeep dash apart yesterday to repaint it. Trying to do it right this time; sanding, washing, alcohol, priming, sanding, alcohol, priming, sanding, alcohol, painting, sanding, alcohol, painting and buffing.

The wife and I chose a dark charcoal metallic for the main portion of the dash, and then she chose candy apple red for the center piece.

I'm putting it back together later today and tomorrow. Will post pics when it's done.

Here's a before pic for now...

I thought I had more of the dash.
keep us posted on the work...can't wait to see the final pics
Cannot wait to see it. I've been wanting to change the colors in my Jeep from spice to a dark charcoal. Light gray or spice were the options in 98, so I chose spice.
Looking forward to the finished product. If it's as good looking as the rest of your rig, it's gonna be awesome!
Thanks Goldy. The main part of the dash was very easy. It's a little time consuming and that is tough for someone like me (I want it NOW!) but I made myself take it slow on this one. I had trouble with the red center because it was the only part that wasn't textured, so I caught the paint wrinkling up some, and had to sand down to the bear material, not once, but twice. The last time around, I sprayed very light coats and allowed to dry thoroughly, then sanded with 1000 grit paper between the coats. It finally turned out. I'll put the center piece later this morning, so pics will follow. I'm hoping the red won't be tooooo loud, but the wife's favorite color is, you guessed, RED. I think she is going to even trade me in on an Indian in hopes of getting a red man.

I'm keeping the console the original color for now, to tie in with the door panels and the roll bar pads, but might even change that at a later date. We'll see.
Here's the finished product.

I'd hope so...

Glad I don't modify my Zuk for the wife... it'd have pink parts on it. Woot_jump

I know what you mean, but it was her idea to get a Jeep a couple of years ago. She even picked out this one, and we've had a blast in it so far. I've had to object to some of her ideas for it, but it was her idea also to go with those bumpers on it. I can live with most of her ideas. Laughing
