It's that time again, my old Y-pipes are pratically falling to pieces... rust-eze anyone? It's a 1999 F150 5.4L v8 4x4... basically looking for something to equalize the sound and make it louder without removing the cat-cons... I'm thinking X-Pipes out the back corners however have not had any experience with them.

So what are your thoughts and your current set-ups?
None of them, get true duals. However, the H pipe on a mustang 5.0, sounds killer.

Don't even try it, way toooo many people have spent fortunes trying to get their vehicles to sound like 5.0's but it never works, and usually hurts the pocket book, i would go with trud duals with Flowmasters turned down by the rear bumper, NO TIPS!!
turn downs! before the rear bumper

I agree, i have had several that way but does add quite a bit of cab noise
O-pipes. They build velocity and sound pressure while conserving fuel, too. They are available in single or dual. Here is a link: http://kalecoauto.com/index.php?main_pag...757749e01e

if I'm not mistaken you can't run true duals on a ford of that you that would leave you the only coice of a Y pipe, do your pipes come off the manifolds and both go into the first catalytic converter, if so you can only run a Y pipe after the second cat.

i would tell you to cut the cats out also... but if you have to pass emissions, put a little acetone in your gas tank and burn it out... put a little more into it after you've done that just before you go through and i promise you'll get pass. Big Grin works everytimei have to take my iroc through... i run 3" true duals all the way back... i have to have tips so they wont lift my car and see i dont have a cat and try to fiigure out how i'm passing. sounds great with the 383 stroker and a mutha thumpr comp cam... lol. good luck

Thats a first for me and dang they cost more than my mufflers. I'm not sure how I would run them either, but looks like its getting good reviews.
