Full Version: Plug for aux. lights

I originally had the wiring for my KC's just run in through the opening for the rear hatch to get access to the interior for switches. Every time it rained, however, the place where the wires were pinched in the weatherstripping would leak just a little bit. Not enough to make things wet, but enough to make about a baseball sized damp spot at the right rear corner of the cargo area. I didn't want to drill a hole in the body and silicone it up, though, so this was the best and most inconspicuous way I could figure to route the wiring. I decided that I rarely use the lights, anyway, and I have yet to use them while it is raining, so I fixed it so I can plug them in when wheeling, and unplug them for the remainder of the time so I don't have to worry about moisture anymore. I just used a round 6-wire trailer plug assembly. The plug is already pretty waterproof, looks really clean when not in use, and since it's built for trailers with lights - both internal and external - and electronic braking systems, it should be able to withstand the amperage required to run the lights.
