ok i have an warn M8000 and last time i was on the trail it decided to stop pulling. it will electrically spool out just not in. and i can here it clicking in the box i dont know whats wrong and don't feel like sended it to tuscaloosa.
any ideas?
Spool it up the other way, then it will pull in, just not spool out with the motor.
check the solenoids. i wouldn't advise spooling it backwards
ok i had an idea, only if the spooling backwards is ok.

what about a mount with the mouth a little higher up so it would spool right thru?
Gears is not cut to be pulling in when going out. I have fixed several of these winches. Its probably a solonoid or heavy corrosion. Start playing with a test light and see whats up.
i mean i can hear it click and it actually went a liitle ways then stopped. i've tightened all the bolts but it still wont pull in except for that second or 2 it worked. i just don't know what it would be
sounds like solenoid...........can you use the same solenoids for both MM and Warn?
i dont know
i know the warn and the smittybuilt are the same so if the mm is the same as the sb then yes
how many solenoids does it have?
The solenoids is bad. I've had a bunch of winches do this. You can buy the old style ford solonoids to replace them. Just check to see if your post on yours are on the top or sides and replace them with ones that look like yours. You can change all 4 for about $30. It's easier to change all4 and be done with it.
