I have been collecting 1/64 scale cars for some years now, but in the past year or so have lost interest. I have somewhere around 700 of them in cases in my closet. I have some that I bought for a dollar ea. and some that I paid $10+ for. I've got hotwheels, match box, Johnny lightning etc....I have one case dedicated to corvettes, one to camaros, one to Mustangs, one to ploice cars, etc.... I have the set of johnny lightning Monopoly cars, with their matching game pieces. I have some that are regular editions and some that are special editions. Just curious what a collection like this might be worth. So any of you guys have any ideas, let me know.
gimme a price, ive prolly got a buyer
had to make a correction, it's only 700 + or -. I dont know what the collection is worth. That is why I wanted some input from other folks. I will come up with a price if they are interested.
If you decide to sell it and /or part it out. My son collects police and fire vehicles I am sure he would be interested in them. I will check and see if he has a clue on evaluating a collection for sale. He will probably say check e-bay and see what similiar cars are going for.
My Law Enforcement collection is nice, it's got standard crown vic's to special sports car patrol units, and SUV's. If I sell, it would have to be in whole. Not sure I want to sell just trying to figure how to value a 700+ piece collection. I started this collection some 15 years back, and have well over $1000 invested in it. Kinda scared to know just what I do have invested. Wondering if a collection like this will appreciate, or depreciate over time to other collectors.
it'll appreciate, id hold on to it...........ive got some cars i bought in 1989 still in the packs and some are worth $25 or more

I've got a few special editions that I left in their packs. And it was tough, cause I like to hold them and look at them before I put em in cases. Just wish dear old Mom hadnt thrown away my childhood collection, it was awsome with cars dating back to 1969. Thanks for the input guys. Will have to check out those site Nate.
I had a Mustang fastback Matchbox when I was little that belonged to my uncles. Apparently the fact that it had redline tires meant something special...I found it about 10 years ago and sold it on ebay for 65 bucks!!!
I have the same thing with 1:18 porsche and 57 chevy. Depends on the condition wether in the box or not, and how hard the model is to come by.
