My motor in the toy started knockin a few weeks back. Now for the delima. Go for it and drop a 350 in or stick with the 22r i just put dual cases in so i'm kinda crossed i have a 350 ready to go and another 22r with little work need to get it back ready. Any advice would be appreciated.
If you still have stock axles, a 350 would cause birfield overload, I think, especially with dual cases.
I just noticed your yota is an 87.
Even 22Rs blow up the IFS.
I would save the 350 for when you have 1 ton axles.
i agree those 22r's are some tough little motors. they are a little low on power but they are light and will run for ever. probably be cheaper/easier to find a good running motor to swap in than to rebuild the stocker
i know a guy that has a 83 and a 82 model oene has a 350 and the other has a 4.3 with dual cases. I think the one with the 4.3 does better and it darn near dropped right in with no major modifications. Even he will tell you that a 350 in a toy isn't worth all the work to get it in. Talk with Yota Bogger
4.3 in a yota is an awesome combination i know the same guy will was talkin about and i seen his little bugger in action and it has me convinced that a 4.3 will dual cases is the way to go dont have to worry about radiator relocation or none of that hype
it all depends on how much power you want what gears i what size tires alot of factors play with the two i mean if u go with a 350 you could be overpowering if u go with a 22r you could be underpowering ya know thats some things to look toward
I thought of something else I dont think you torsion bars on the front end will like the extra weight of the 350, unless you have done a sas
pretty sure his has a solid front axle. i doubt an ifs front would have lasted this long with dual cases and 37's
