If you're doing a swap, why not look at doing a 3RZ-FE swap.
That's the 2.7 liter 4 cylinder from later model Tacomas and T-100s.

There used to be an extensive write up on Marlin Crawler, and I think they have a kit.

The one 4.3 swap I've seen any details on the guy had exhaust clearance issues. ( he does seem to like it though)
