I have sold 3 samurais and bought a 76 chevy and also sold it. Ive done all this because i went and bought a 2006 chevy 1500 for an everyday truck. Now my 1998 Chevy 1500 4wheel drive is going to be my trail truck. It all ready has 3inches of lift and some 32 BFG at's. I want to do some more mods to it to make it more trail worthy. I'm thinking a 3 inch body to ad some better tire clearence. FOR SURE some 33-13.50-15 super swamper LTB's on my 10 inch wide rims. Some sliders down both sides and some rear diff work.
DO YOU GUYS OR GIRLS HAVE ANY OTHER IDEAS???
Heres a pic now what else could i do to it?

that is a good start, nice rig. you dont need the sas right now though. with the 6 inches of lift you could clear some 35s with a little sawzall work.

Ive seen trucks just like mine clear 35's with just a bodylift! so i should be able to clear 33's easy.
Get Ben to make you some bumpers for better approach/departure angles. Then boatsides, narrow the bed and frontend, interior cage...ah, screw it. Just buy a Jeep.

The only way to get better approach/departure angles would be to remove the bumpers...

I want to customize my own rig not by one just like everyone else has thats why i don't want a jeep. There all the same around here except the color and choise of rims and tires.
how do you plan on making your chevy truck not just like every other chevy truck? so far i have one idenical to what you are talking about building,it had 33's but now has 35s, 3" body, ifs, you can have it if you want it. j/k
just my 2 cents but if you want it to be a good trail ride the ifs has to go. i guess it depends on what kind of trials you are planning on ridding on but 3" and some 33 inch LTB's are kind of small for a rig with your weight and size . it would be an ok set up for light mud riding but on hilly trails and deep mud it may not work so good. i am just not sure how it is going to be for an all around trail rig. my brother is looking to do the sas thing with his 94. so i will keep ya posted on how it goes. to make the truck different than most anything around here you may want to reread 601cherokees remarks. sound good to me except for the part about the jeep!!

Your right but i plan on keeping tha truck for a long time i have to much money in it as it is so a sas could be in the works. but not right now hell im still in school and only work part time most the time. I'm just looking for some ideas i can do for now to get me on tha rides. It is kinda under powered also it has a 4.3 with a 5 speed. thats why im staying small on tires for now. But i also want something i can drive a few miles to the ride. I already have a pretty much new truck setting there, as far as a new motor (only has 36k on it now) rebuilt rearend, the works under the frontend other than the front diff. And your right i'm not just doing it to mud bogg it or hill climb its kinda just for weekend joy rides in tha forrest and some buddies hunting clubs and stuff like that.

If your BFGs are in good shape I might be interested in buying them from you.
