What I am saying is not to use chemical cleaners at all for weld prep.
Also, phosgene is created in the presence of argon. The argon is introduced during the mig or tig welding, provided you are using an argon/CO2 mix.

Why in the world would someone want to use a degreaser to prep a weld, anyway? You can weld right through a film of oil. (Water is a different story. Wink )

If you use those products at work, you should be able to lay your hands on the MSDS (Material Safety Data Sheet) for that product. It should spell out the hazards.
If you use that product at work and do not have an MSDS, you may have found something else to address. Wink
