Any of you guys made the upgrade yet? I did it last night. It definately runs A LOT better. As for appearance though, not much has changed.
Oh, and if you're worried about it being very time consuming or hard, it's not hard at all and takes about 1 hour.
Been running the beta for a few months. Yes, it's a lot better.
CPU usage on Vista usually hung out around 60%, CPU usage on 7 has been hanging out at around 2% SWEET!!!!
Been using the full release since12:01AM on the 22nd. 64bit Ultimate installed on our laptops and my gaming desktop. CPU usage is the same as my Vista that I tweaked. Memory usage is a little lower, but I have not tweaked 7 yet to make any changes in that. Easy installs and a bit faster on the boot, way faster than a non-tweaked install of Vista.
Highly recommend 7!
What kind of tweaks do you make?
I'm wondering the same!

I disable any processes I don't want/like, delete or disable any programs I don't want to give a chance to load at all (messenger, etc.. lots of adobe update stuff) and then dig around in the registry and trim it up based on my own personal preferences. I completely disable any kind of sidebars and remove them from the system (I hate sidebars!!) and tweak program I want to run like iTunes (hate it's auto updater) and such. I remove INF's, log files, help files, and tons of "I will never see them" images and stuff similar that come built into any windows install. I even remove some drivers that I know I will never need.
I am a minimalist when it comes to installs. I ran Windows XP installs that were only 400-450MB total install and could run off 256M of RAM like it was a dream machine. I got Vista trimmed down to a small 1GB install.
i am trying to get millsaps to get me an educational upgrade from vista to 7 - man the pro package is 200 bucks
I'm running ultimate 64 bit
