I need a selector shaft seal for my 1977 Dodge torqueflite 727 transmission. It is a small seal that seals the vertical shift shaft on the left side of the case. It is about one inch in diameter from what I recall. I can't see it or measure it without taking the linkage arm off.

I bought one a few years ago, but botched the install. I want to fix it right, but can't seem to find the part at the local parts houses. All they list is a seal for the 904. They list a 8609 seal, but it appears to be too big. It is 1.252" OD x .77 ID.

I tried to find an online seller, but they either don't list it separately, or they don't give a part number or size so that I can confirm that it is the right part.

I saved the box from the first one, but I can't find it, now.

Are there any Mopar or transmission guys on here who can shed some light or even sell me a seal?
Timken 8609. It will be the same as the 904. 1965+ 727/A518/904/A500 will use this seal, even the electronic versions of these trans (46RH,46RE and 42RH/42RE) use this same seal for the shift shaft.
They will probably list it as a Selector Shaft Seal or as a Manual Control Shaft Seal.

Or if you really want to have fun chasing through a parts book, I have a Pioneer Inc seal number of 759037 written in the service book I bought about 15 years ago that covers the 727/904 series. Smile
Thanks Willie. It just looked a bit large to me. Hmmm. I suppose I will just have to remove the link arm and confirm the size, then go pick it up. Advance has it in stock.

I may get a chance to crawl under there this weekend.
