Guys my 2.3 will crank and run for a while and then it starts acting like it is loosing fuel and it shuts off. I know the battery i bought is a dud because i have to jump it off and if i take the cables off it dies but i dont know if that would have anything to do with the problem im having
Sounds like an alternator problem instead of a battery problem. If the alternator is good, the engine should run without the battery connected. I bet your battery is good but dead and your alternator is bad. This might be the root cause of your problems.
just one little question can a alt. going out cause a truck to run fine for a little bit and then kill the truck causing it to backfire and having to wait a few minutes before you can crank it back up
It can make it run rough and backfire if there is not enough voltage. Then it will quit. So, in other words, yes.
well i bet my problem to start with was the alt. not the motor (or what was circled there on the front rez)
every thing is working great now with all the new stuff i have put on it except when i give it gas it dies but i have discovered bad gas it has turne a murcy white color like it has water in it and i think this is my new problem i am about one step from buying a nissan if new gas doesnt get me on the road

why trade 1 problem for another?

That adventurous little boy of yours may have tried to shut you down

and dumped some water down the filler when you were under the hood turning some wrenches!
